Sunday 13th August Lake Maraboon Holiday Village

Rob had managed to book in for a game of golf today, in Emerald. As there was a competition on in the morning, he wasn’t able to take to the course until 1pm. We decided to go in to Emerald, mid-morning to check out a few places, shop and refuel, before golf. We visited the beautiful railway station, built in 1900. A train (The Outback Spirit which runs from Brisbane to Longreach) was in at the station at the time and we found out that there was a problem and the train was stuck and it was likely passengers would have to be transferred to buses. We visited the local tourist information centre which has the biggest art easel in the world with a painting of Van Gough’s sunflowers on it. The park next to the centre also had a series of intricate mosaics depicting the history of Emerald. It was soon time for Rob to head to golf and he was able to get onto the course a little earlier. He decided to book a cart so I decided that I would go around with him. We enjoyed the course and had a packed lunch while out on the course. Rob was glad that he had decided to use a cart as the course was extensive and hilly. We encountered a couple of interesting lizards sunning themselves and not wanting to move out of the way, even if the golf-cart was heading their way.
