Today we packed up from beautiful Lake Maraboon and drove to our next destination, Tannum Sands. The journey took us through quite a few large mining towns and we saw many coal trains, power stations and cotton plantations. We arrived at Tannum Sands soon after lunch and set up. Tannum Sands is a delightful coastal town near Boyne Island and Gladstone. Our park is both close to the ocean and nearby rivers. Once we were organised, we went for a drive and checked out the Boyne Island Golf course, possible launching places for the kayak and the other parks located on both the river and the coast. We finished the afternoon, with a lovely walk along the beach. The weather here is always quite mild and the temperature is usually within a range that means you can swim all year round. Rob and I were surprised with the large number of people on the beach, although we didn’t see any in swimming.
