Friday 14th July Clermont Caravan Park

An uneventful drive today passing through small and large towns. Quite a few were coal mining towns, like our coffee stop at Bluff and comfort stop at Blackwater. These towns always seem to have excellent facilities and parks and plenty of money. We saw many long coal trains of up to 100 wagons, some taking coal to be processed and others returning empty. We continued on, passing through the larger town of Emerald before arriving in Clermont for a late lunch. We had some fun and entertained some other park customers, when I accidentally directed Rob to the wrong site. I discovered this soon after we had set up and started to do some washing. As soon as the first load was done we had to move…one site up as the park was totally booked out and the site we were originally on had been booked for someone who was staying longer than 1 night. Anyway Rob had no issues backing into the new site and we entertained people around us! We went for a drive in the afternoon and I of course wanted to visit the cemetery. Here there was a special grave and memorial to the 60 people who lost their lives in the Dec. 1916 floods. This flood lead to the whole town being relocated.
