As the weather forecast for today was rain all day and a maximum temperature of 9 degrees we decided to try to find indoor activities! We drove for about 30 minutes from Dubbo to the town of Wellington and then further out of town to the Wellington Caves. Originally we thought we might do a tour but given the weather we decided against it. The newly built information centre had a wonderful display in an Ancient Landscapes Gallery. We spent quite some time in the gallery learning about the fossils and the Australian Megafauna found in the caves. It was interesting to note that much of the work done here by palaeontologists were people from Flinders University in South Australia. We drove back to Wellington and stopped for coffee and a short walk, before driving back to Dubbo. We spent the afternoon “chilling out” in the caravan and keeping warm and dry!
