Thursday 29th June Dubbo

This morning we headed out to the Dubbo Western Plains Zoo. Although it was extremely cold, (a maximum of 11 but felt more like 6 due to the “wind chill” factor), we still had a wonderful day. There were several options as for moving around this very large zoo (driving your own car, cycling, small carts Etc.) we decided to walk and this kept us warm. It is a fabulous place to see animals in more natural settings and wonderful to visit no matter what your age. Rob and I added a “Savannah Safari” to our ticket so we could see some of the animals mixed in together in a safari setting. We have probably walked over 20 thousand steps today and survived so that is a good thing! It was hard to pick a favourite animal but we loved watching the antics of the Meerkats, the white handed Gibbon and the Giraffes.  We finished the day off by visiting the nearby Dubbo Club (bowling) for a drink. A huge, modern, club situated high above the McQuarrie River with great views of Dubbo. The club was busy and full of people.
