Thursday 22nd June Lake Cullulleraine

Before reporting on today’s activities, I need to mention the great evening we had at the local Cobdogla Community Club, “The Cobby”, last night. We had booked for dinner on advice from the owner of the caravan park but thought that this was probably not needed on a cold and wet Wednesday evening. Imagine our surprise when we pulled up to the club and saw a large number of vehicles out the front and in the adjacent carpark. We found a park and then entered to find a busy bar and room full of people. We had wonderful meals and bought the mandatory “meat raffle” tickets, 10 meat trays were up for grabs and we managed to win the first pick! Very happy. That combined with the 20% off our meals which we received for staying at the caravan park, made it a lovely night. Today was a very wet, cold day. We headed off around 10am, stopping at Renmark for coffee before arriving at Busman’s Rest CP around lunchtime. There are only two vans in here tonight so we had a choice of sites. We have a lovely view of the lake although it was impossible to get out go for a walk due to the rain. In the afternoon we drove to Mildura to do some shopping before returning to Lake Cullulleraine, late in the afternoon. Luckily the rain had abated and it looks like tomorrow will be OK, weather–wise.
