Friday 23rd June Lake Cullulleraine

After a very comfortable night’s sleep, we awoke to blue skies and no rain.  Unfortunately it was still quite windy so Rob decided not to play golf. Instead we had a lazy morning around the lake, checking out the small settlement of Cullulleraine before driving into Mildura for some more shopping and lunch. We drove over the Murray to Gol Gol in NSW. We decided to also check out the lovely caravan park we had stayed at last year at Buronga and found out that it has not yet been able to reopen since the floods late last year. It appears that the whole park would have been under 2 to 3 metres of water. We also suspect that the office/home that was located up a little higher than the rest of the park, may have received some flood damage too. There appeared to be much activity on the site with workers everywhere so hopefully they will be able to reopen soon. By the time we drove back to Lake Cullulleraine the wind had dropped out and the lake was calm. I could have gone out for a kayak but opted for a walk instead as it didn’t seem sensible to go to all the work of taking the kayak off the vehicle etc. just for a short kayak. Rob was pretty happy when one of the people from the caravan park lit a fire near the camp kitchen and he was able to take a beer over and chat with the two other blokes who had gathered around the fire.
