Wednesday 26th July Lake Tinaroo Holiday Park

During the night the wind picked up and poor Rob had to go outside and take the awning down while I was tucked up in bed. By morning, rain had also joined the wind. We didn’t rush to pack up as we were only moving across the Lake Tinaroo Dam wall to another caravan park close to the lake. We drove with the van into Yungaburra and stopped for a walk, coffee and a shop at the local butchers shop. We then drove the 20 min. drive to our new abode, The Lake Tinaroo Holiday Park. The rain had continued on and off all morning, but we managed to set up and keep relatively dry. Our friends, Heather and Paul are staying at this park for 3 weeks with several other couples that they know. Paul had driven to Cairns to have his caravan batteries tested and purchase some new ones if needed, so we caught up with Heather and Sue when we arrived. We spent the afternoon chatting under cover as the rain continued. I decided to go for a walk with my anorak on and my walk took me down near the lake. It started well and there were many interesting history plaques but soon I could see an approaching squall coming across the lake and I was quite wet before I managed to get back to the van. Anyway we all spent a relaxing afternoon, chatting, reading and doing indoor jobs. We are here for another 2 nights so hopefully the rain won’t continue.
