Thursday 6th July Big 4 Saltwater @ Yamba Holiday Park

Another beautiful day with blue skies and warm temperatures. We decide to head back to Yamba and do some more exploring and walking. Rob thought he might play golf but unfortunately it was Comp. day and he wouldn’t have been able to play on the course until after 3PM. We drove out to another little coastal town only 5kms. out of Yamba called Angourie. Here we were greeted by more beautiful scenery and beaches, surfers enjoying the great waves and two large pools next to the shore. One was called the Green Pool and this was a fresh-water pool formed when large granite blocks were mined from the area and a spring emptied water into the hole that had been formed. The area became a very popular swimming spot. Less than 100mt from this, on the shore line was the naturally formed Blue Pool, a beautiful spot with waves crashing onto the rocks nearby and another great swimming spot. We spent time exploring this area and the nearby beaches, watching the very able surfers, surfing near the rocks, before returning to Yamba. Back in Yamba we walked down the busy main streets, full of families, young people and surf shops. We did some shopping before returning to the caravan park. The afternoon was spent relaxing, doing some future bookings and small jobs around the van.
